Is there any chance I could talk you all out of the "Ugly Sweater" thing again this year? I am prepared to offer you this pajama tutorial , half a box of frozen yogurt tubes and the 17 cents that I found under the couch last night in exchange for your support in eradicating a musim that brings back holiday sweater fashion that even the 1980's refused to accept.
I just don't think I can make it through another season of "Ugly is the new Awesome." I am unwilling to spend hours searching for (or making) an item of clothing that will make me feel even more inept at dressing myself than I already am. Who needs that in December?! I just want to hang out with people I like and eat chocolate and look at little twinkling lights in the distance while listening to music that has a completely inordinate amount of tiny chiming bells because I find it randomly soothing. If that's wrong...I still don't want to wear an ugly sweater. I don't even like awesome sweaters. I DO like pajamas. And breakfast. And watching movies under cozy blankets with hot buttered popcorn.
Let's make THAT a thing. Who wouldn't want to come to a Christmas pajama party?! Everyone already has pajamas. You already LIKE wearing them. And let's be honest...most of those Christmas jammies are SO adorable , they are practically begging to be shared with the world. Unlike those sweaters. What you don't know is that those sweaters are actually introverts and they just want to spend the night , every night , in the attic...alone...without anyone bugging them...especially noisy party-goers with their happiness and their laughter and their eggnog. If you think about it , letting those sweaters celebrate in their solitude is just the RIGHT thing to do. AND as an added bonus...you'll have a reason to make these fun pajama cookies!!
1. Outline and flood the pants area with a medium consistency light green icing. Immediately add dots of red , white , and dark green icing. Let dry for 30 minutes.
2. Grab some medium consistency red icing and pipe a wide waist band and hem lines with a #3 tip. Let dry for at least an hour.
3. Pipe some crazy squiggly slippers with white icing. Sprinkle crystal sanding sugar on top of the wet icing. Shake off excess icing.
4. Put a #1.5 tip on the white icing and pipe a bow on the waistband.
5. (Not shown) EAT while being happy because you are NOT wearing an ugly sweater.
Okay , look. I KNOW it's the middle of July. I get that. I really do. I also have a best friend that can pressure me into doing pretty much anything. And after we saw the way that HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN SPRINKLES here.
